Early in his life, John personally observed how overwhelming and expensive the probate process can be, when his aunt died, without any estate planning measures in place. That loss and trauma stuck with him. He did not want his children to have to carry that same burden that his young cousin was carrying. After the birth of his first child, John knew he needed to have a comprehensive estate plan in place so that his family would be protected. He created a trust, will, and power of attorney that would ensure his family was set up properly, even after he was gone.
Mersereau Law puts together comprehensive estate plans at a reasonable price, so that everyone can protect their families.
After he did this, John reached out to his friends to learn what steps they had taken to protect their families. John was surprised to learn that almost all of them had not taken steps to protect their family with an estate plan. Their reasons for not planning ahead included a lack of understanding of the process, uncertainty of whether or not they needed a trust, and concerns about the expense of having a trust drafted. Knowing how important it is for young families to put these plans into place, John was inspired to start his own firm with the goal of protecting young families like his own.
John started his career working at a prestigious personal injury firm in the heart of San Francisco and then continued to hone his legal skills at a boutique litigation firm in San Diego. John then Founded Mersereau Law in 2022. John is an AV® Preeminent™ lawyer by Martindale-Hubbell®, the highest rating a lawyer may achieve.
